The Big City Blog: “Free Days” return to the Field Museum in 2018 for Illinois residents

What: The Field Museum’s “Free Days” are back in 2018. This includes an entire month of free basic admission for Illinois residents during Free February, plus additional specific free days in January and June. Free Days are about an $80 savings for a family of four, making them the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the many adventures at the museum — from exploring the pyramids of ancient Egypt to witnessing the history of life on earth, and, of course, plenty of dinosaurs. Free Days this year fall during a time of big change coming to the museum, including the introduction of the largest dinosaur ever found, the Titanosaur.

February and January Free Days line up with Sue’s updates as part of the transformation of Stanley Field Hall in 2018. Sue will soon be on vacation in order to receive scientific improvements and undergo conservation work, so Free Days during the winter of 2018 are great opportunities to get a last-minute selfie or group photo with her in Stanley Field Hall before the skeletal celebrity goes on hiatus, returning in 2019 to a new home in the Field’s permanent exhibition Evolving Planet.

When: January 3, 4, 15, 27, 28; February 1-28; June 20, 21, 22; from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Where: The Field Museum
1400 S. Lake Shore Drive
Chicago IL, 60605

Details: With proof of residency, Illinois residents can enjoy free basic admission on all above specified Free Days in January, February and June. Visitors that wish to upgrade to an All-Access Pass, which includes access to Specimens: Unlocking the Secrets of Life, Ancient Mediterranean Cultures in Contact, Mummies: Images of the Afterlife, Cyrus Tang Hall of China, and a 3D movie, can do so at an additional cost. Tickets to Jurassic World: The Exhibition will also be available at an additional cost.

Illinois residents must show valid proof of residency. Visit The Field Museum website for details.
