THE QUESTION: What is something you actually enjoy about winter in Chicago?

“The clothes. Everyone looks more attractive in their winter wardrobe. Winter essentials include my Theory leather jacket, Cole Haan boots and loud printed scarves from Nordstrom Rack or TopShop.”

— JOHNA BRAINERD

“The peacefulness of the city’s parks near downtown with unique people-watching experiences. Grab a coffee with Bailey’s at a nearby bar and take a carriage ride down Michigan Ave.”

—    BRAD LANSCIONI

“Ending a blustery, wintery stroll with a drink at the Violet Hour is a perfect ending to the night. Premium drinks for two in candlelight can warm you even on the most chilling evenings.”

—    JASON FLORES

“When the snow first falls and it’s not that cold and you can walk around. Everything is so white and pretty. Like a picture postcard.”

— JOHNIETTA JOHNSON | CHICAGO VISITOR CENTER

“I love taking my goddaughter to Winter Wonderland at Navy Pier. I also love going out on a cold night to a place like Jilly’s, where it’s packed and fun and the joint is jumping.”

— JAN VISCUM | CHICAGO VISITOR CENTER

“Walking down Michigan Avenue, just looking at the lights and the snow and the people. It definitely feels like Christmas.”

— SANNA JESSE | TIMOTHY O’TOOLE’S

“Definitely football, whether it’s watching it at Timothy O’Toole’s or going to the game and tailgating. I like the lights on Michigan Avenue too.”

— AMBER JAMES | TIMOTHY O’TOOLE’S

“Being up in the tall buildings during a big snowstorm. Also, going to breakfast at Feast on Delaware. Great fireplace, and it’s a fun place to start your day.”
